Our Italian food guru, winner of multiple Neapolitan food and pizza awards, restaurateur mogul and 400 Gradi Founder, Johnny Di Francesco has taken home another well-deserved award – this time applauding his business acumen.
On Saturday, 9th of November, Di Francesco won the coveted Italian Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Australia’s prestigious Business Excellence Award.
The ICCI Annual Gala Ball is one of the most highly regarded events within the business calendar; celebrating companies who have excelled in their chosen field whilst demonstrating leadership and success in business innovation, networking and planning.
Di Francesco now proudly shares the stage with celebrated household names including the likes of Sunglass Hut, De’ Longhi Australia, Nick Scali & Carla Zampatti, each being winners in previous years.
“My goal, when I opened my first restaurant in Brunswick was to introduce the traditional Neapolitan pizza to Australia. I feel very proud and honoured that I, just a guy from Brunswick, have brought this amazing concept to a country – Australia – across the other side of the globe. Winning this award is such an incredible feeling, and a milestone to be celebrating,” says Di Francesco.
Johnny’s dedication and passion for making world-class pizza has also awarded him the sought-after position of Australasian Principal of the V.P.N, an international association dedicated to protecting and promoting authentic Neapolitan Pizza. Only two chefs in Australia have been awarded this honour.
Di Franceso lives and breathes Italian tradition, importing 80% of product and equipment in his restaurants from Italy and strives to continue to do so. Sponsoring and hiring Italian staff of over 18, 000 individuals over the last 11 years ensures an opportunity for those seeking time here in Australia, and continues to maintain Italian tradition in doing so.
With now over 14 venues globally and more on the way, with at least three more set to open in the coming year, Johnny thrives in the opportunity to keep spreading Italian tradition, not only in Australia, but worldwide. The Gradi Group is focusing on continuing to educate the younger generation of second & third generation Italians to ensure Italian tradition lives on.
Cheers to you Johnny, we are all incredible proud!
